Every time (it seems) that I listen to the BBC or watch BBC News, they seem to be going out of their way to find people who aren't happy with the way the Government are handling things.
I have just about given up and prefer to watch Sky News at the moment unless Beth Rigby is on and then I switch it on to Mute.
I feel that the Government are doing a reasonable job in these unprecedented circumstances. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Sorry, don't usually moan!

Writing as a Marxist and left-wing luvvy (although I’m not sure what the latter sobriquet actually means) I tend to agree about the BBC’s news broadcasts. (Perhaps I’m on the wrong side!)

But as a free, independent broadcaster, I’d merely echo Churchill (whoops, another black mark on my Marxist credentials) when he almost said “The BBC is the worst possible broadcasting organisation - until you consider all the others.”
// seem to be going out of their way to find people who aren't happy with the way the Government are handling things.//

they have a duty to be impartial
they arent scientists nor can they add - any of them

this means they are absolutely at sea with death statistics

one fair and valid way out for them is to get a pro and a con in the studios at the same time and let them slog it out

SO Imperial ( we are all gonna die!) has been slogging it out with Oxford ( epidemic what epidemic?) on the media
and the result is chaos

Luckily but not for samoa we had a preview or training session on this over MMR and whether anti vaxxers should be given wide free speech to say - "it will be all allright dont vaccinate your children". There are now 160 avoidably dead kids buried on Samoa.

and so - - three is a strong undercurrent of scientists pressuring the Beeb to get the scientists to read from the same hymn book. The landscape is different now as everyone agrees that trolling and news interference HAS occurred in the past so the only question is - - is it occurring now on the stats

I agree that the beeb can do MUCH better, but I also agree that it should not be a govt mouthpiece. I don;t have a lot of sympathy for the Beeb - some of their betises are pretty outrageous -like I wouldnt tolerate it in a twelve y old
// when he almost said “The BBC is the worst possible broadcasting organisation - until you consider all the others.”//

well get your marxist memory re modelled - allen

I thought it was (*)
Milton Friedman said the Been is the least worst broadcasting television station
which caused comment not least ( haha pun intended!) because it should be l"east bad"
and even that is top of the pile of tv stations with the awful at the top and the worst at the bottom.....

pr else it is a gloss on
Stanley Baldwin - the mine workers were the stupidest men I had ever met if I hadnt met the mine owners ( 1926 )

Whatever slagging off is going on, the fact of the matter is that the UK government sat on their ass for three months watching what was going on in China, hoping the missile would miss the UK. Then they started panic buying beds, ppe, and ventilators. Oh, it didn't miss.
(*) oh I used to lose sleep over whether my quotes were absolutely correct
or even near the correct text or perhaps someone else
and then i learnt by bitter bitter experience that it didnt really matter as no one reading it gave a staff
>>>>>>>That is it? You pay the licence fee.........for Eastenders.......haha I couldn't make that up and I'm good putting a parody together.

And where did you get that idea from?
Or are you just jumping in and making silly assumptions? Oh dear.
I think Beth learnt to talk by watching the 2 ronnies:

// Oh, it didn't miss.//
tweaky I remember you posting about the lack of clarity of the scientists
when I pointed out it was Prof Norman who said
"C-virus is not an epidemic flu virus therefore there will not be an epidemic" radio 4

which was obviously wrong ( counterfactual - plague is bact)
and then they came out with - there is no excess death, it is all a relabelling exercise
whilst the chapels wer efull in Italy

so I thought the govt had an excuse actually
(yes I have it in for Oxford)

I find it slightly bizarre that the government is accused of lagging behind the likes of Spain and Italy in reacting to the outbreak. Those countries aren’t exactly models to want to follow.
Not as bizarre as the rather hilarious criticism of the BBC though.
Or the excellent Beth Rigby.
Dropping her Gs? What is Britain coming to?
it's just the ABBC doing what they do, they're like the usual anti British suspects on here, never a good word for us, they side with foreigners and criticise no matter what we do. I just wish they'd go and live in a country they like rather than constantly talking this one down.
This is the best one yet. They know that the right to fleece the populace just to watch the telly is over, so they are desperately looking for other "avenues of revenue".

""The BBC has said the television licence fee could ultimately be replaced by a monthly levy on broadband connections, in response to the UK government’s proposals to decriminalise non-payment of the licence fee. The public broadcaster said it strongly supported keeping the current court-enforced television licence fee system in place for the medium-term. But it is willing to consider following other European countries and implement a funding model “linked directly to an existing common household bill” such as an internet connection, council tax, or electricity supply.""

I think (and hope) they'll be met with resistance on that.

I snorted the other day when on a news programme, they were talking about the covid myths, urging people to find reliable sources and ''that includes the BBC'
does it hel.l
> I have just about given up [on the BBC]

What took you so long?
////Is East Enders a vehicle for Marxists and Left wing luvvies?
Would they even watch it?//

No idea.....never seen a minute of the fatuous nonsense since about 1973. Was rubbish then. I can't imagine it has improved or reflects the real London anymore now than it did then.//

You haven't seen a show that started in 1985 since 1973?

Impressive bit of time travel there Togo.
