My problem too - no bread flour or yeast. Perhaps all those bread-maker machines used once then tucked away at back of kitchen cupboard are being retrieved and put into regular use
I eat very little bread and when I do its gluten free toast. Hubby only likes bread he makes in the breadmaker and is very miffed about the Hovis loaf that I ordered for him on line!
I shall have to go out next week to collect Mr BM's prescription so I'll try Tesco and Aldi (certainly our Tesco hasnt had any for weeks).
I hadnt thought of the packaging issue, APC.
I do have a little S/R left so I think I might make a chocolate cake this afternoon. Or a lemon drizzle. We're not going to get out the doors when we are eventually let out!!!!
Yeast is the missing link for me too. Have loads of different flours seeds etc also enough goodies for Danish pastries but no yeast, won't order from amazon as it's all sachets from China or elsewhere in Asia and I can't be sure of its strength.
Whether you can get what you want from the stores, or you can't, depends entirely on when the delivery vans arrive. If you're there when one turns up, you're lucky; if you're not, then you're unlucky.
I have plenty of Gluten free cornflakes! And i had two gluten free loaves delivered by Tesco yesterday, but i need gluten free pasta. I dont have an allergy, just gluten intolerant.
Hooray! Daughter sent some packets of yeast (don't know where she got them, but bless her) which I've had for a week- but TARAAAAAR! I got some bread flour in the 'Oldies Hour' at Tesco's. Shame they're not enforcing it, there was a pair of fat, tattooed types shoving their way around. Still, Hooray!
PS ^^^^ What I really need now is seeds and seedlings. Bit or garden and allotment all dug - aching backs etc. We desperately need the nurseries to re-open -what's the difference to a supermarket as long as distancing takes place? There are bound to be food shortages later on, so the more we grow our own the better. Sorry, off subject.
