Nice Thing To Do

When I was at work earlier, a customer called over a young lass who was waiting to be served (she had a care home uniform on and was only buying a few things) and paid for her shopping to thank her for doing her job. I thought it was a really nice thing to do and very understated.

Lovely thing to do that, sherr. Happened at a local ( to me ) petrol station last week, guy putting petrol in his car noticed a nurse also putting petrol in her car and when he payed for his petrol and so told the cashier to take for the petrol from the pump that the nurse had filled up at.

There was also a lady come in to buy some wine, and she was crying and told me her dad had just died (not of corona virus) - we’ve chatted a few times and I felt awful that I couldn’t even put my hand on her arm or anything (I did make sure she had company and that her mum was ok). Strange times.

Sherr, I think the role of a shop worker is so important right now. People often have no one to talk to, and you guys are providing a great service beyond your normal parameters. Thank you and we'll done :-)

(my timing wasn’t greet). Hindsight is a wonderful thing, sherr. Has Mozz say's you shop workers are on the front line now ( my two daughters both work at Tesco and it really scares me right now ), may god protect you all ( and thats from an atheist ). Well done you.

very true, tonyav. The checkout desks at our little local Sainsbury's now have plastic screens shielding the staff, but bigger supermarkets don't seem to. They have masks and gloves, but they're never 6ft from the customer they're serving, even if others in the queue are spaced well back.
