We are all concerned about people losing loved ones, but we also need a laugh as well to get through it all.

It's called "lightening the mood", Gully.

The British are renowned for their humour in times of adversity. The humour often takes advantage of the situation, as here. Nobody is wishing ill on anybody, those who have lost with loved ones or have them critically ill are unlikely to take any notice. They have other things on their minds.
