What a marvellous invention.
Last night we had a wonderful over two hour conversation with family thanks to the above.
It was as if we were all sitting in our living room, having a drink and chatting. We had a laugh, we spoke about serious things, but just generally enjoyed being in each other’s company, virtually.
During all this corona stuff, I’m so grateful to technology.

Don’t you get charged after 35 minutes Vegus?
No you don't. I did a 17 party 2 hour meeting last week on there. All free.
yep, I use it for my weekly liquid lunch with the lads!
Must try it again for a virtual pub with the girls
Thanks
Thought it was only free for 40 minutes?
it is in theory but each time I've used it they have extended us. It's only a couple of clicks to get back in anyway.
Denton I knew I’d seen it somewhere
3T's has the right idea.
How do they make any money from it?

Times out after 40 minutes but as TTT says, couple of clicks and you’re back on.
No idea how they make their money, or how it works, but it does!
To answer some of the points above:
Zoom's 40-minute limit (for users of the free service) only applied when there were 3 or more users in the group; people using it for one-to-one communications didn't face such limits. However the limit was lifted altogether a few weeks back. (It's not clear whether it's just a temporary measure or whether the limit has gone for good though):

The firm makes its money from business-level subscription services (which include features such as the automatic recording of all conference calls):

Thanks Chris
I have just suggested this for our quiz night tomorrow... nobody seems to know much about it yet, but we might well give it a go...

One of our family does two ‘pub’ quizzes each week via zoom, they say it works really well.
a social club I go to do card bingo with it! I hate bingo of any kind but I applaud the effort.
I'm not very techy... so will have to see. Seem to need to download Instagram app?
