but another clue is 'Forest fun' also 8 letters. Don't know if it's an error

Can someone please help, I have a clue and two possible answers, The clue is 'Wash road marker singing'. The letters are 6.7 and it's a bird.
The 2 answers I've had suggested are Willow Warbler and Yellow warbler and try as I might I can't see the connection of the 'Wash road marker' part of the clue, that's assuming I have the 'Singing' part correct as warbler. Any help would be very appreciated, thanks.
