This was requested on March 18...over a month ago, by apg. No action was taken, and in the meantime we've been absolutely overrun with threads. Frankly, it's depressing to come across gloom, doom, conspiracy, and endless analysis of the rights and wrongs of how it's being handled. We need escapism and lightheartedness. Please can all the Covid threads be put in one place, so we might avoid if desired. Thank you.

A new category would make sense as the threads would not be spread over different subjects.

PASTA is wanting a dedicated thread (category?) in order to avoid the numerous threads because they are depressing.

If folk are depressed, will they not be depressed still when the same thread is constantly appearing in the latest posts?
No, I’d not take part unless I had something to add anyway
If you do that the News section will die as it’s just about the only story.
Yes it’s depressing and dull but so is most of the news and social media at the moment.
Endless daft stuff on Facebook about people making face masks out of reusable spaghetti etc etc.
But I’m afraid ... tough
Fourthted - if fifthted - or sixthted ... I’ve lost count .... but yes!!!!
It goes from debate to Im right, you’re wrong .....

That's because the only news in the papers or on TV at present is the virus. There must be other things going on. Murders, robberies, all sorts. But its Covid, Covid, Covid. There's only so much that can be reported: the latest numbers, the latest episode of ineptitude by NHS managers and politicians and any new developments regarding a cure or a preventative measure. But on it goes. We get reports on the lockdown from six different parts of the country each night (all near enough identical not only to each other but to previous offerings); we get a completely incomprehensible report from inside a hospital where viewers don't have clue what's being said because all the speakers are encased in masks and other protection; we get a slot on some "virtual" concert or other that somebody who nobody knows has arranged with their friends and family. The Covid news can be covered in five minutes: latest figures and any developments. It is extremely tedious and that's why the AB's News section is similarly so.
agree Nj, like Brexit, corona virus has become an obsession both here and in the media.
"If we can have a Seasonal one at Christmas, then why nota This is Corvid [sic] one"

There has been a Christmas sub-category for yonks and it's there still. I have no idea how easy it is to create a new category, all I am saying is it might not be as straightforward as some folk think it should be.

It's fairly easy for the Ed to create a sticky...semi permanent thread...in news
I fully agree but think it needs its own full category. People aren't going to be willing to add to someone else's sticky. Other businesses are pulling out the stops to get us through this pandemic, can't be that hard for the gnomes to do the same :-)
