I've recently gone onto Call Safe with TalkTalk. When a friend of mine phoned me on his Withheld number and was asked his name, he didn't want to give his name so he said 'Sod off' and his call wasn't put through. He said he doesn't believe me when I said my phone didn't ring as he can't see how a machine can differentiate between a name` and someone saying Sod Off. Is he right?

Many companies use voice activated systems these days so they are getting quite sophisticated.
Did he hang up after saying it though?

I hope that you're not expected too many calls from Russia though. If, say, Alexander Sodov was to phone you, his surname might get picked up as being offensive ;-)

Fitzer I don't know what he did, but I couldn't answer it because it didn't ring at my end.
Chris, thanks for that info. I like the Russian name. :-)
The reason he didn't want to give his name is because he thinks TalkTalk will then have his name and number and will sell it on.
If it like the True Call built into my phone, the caller has to say their name (or whatever) and then press a key.

Perhaps he didn't press the key?
No idea - who are you?
