Looking For A Parcel Delivery Company Not Hermes Too Deliver Ebay Items
12 Answers
I'm looking for a parcel delivery service for my Ebay items that are too big for the Post Office. I have been using Hermes but I've had a parcel waiting to be picked for a week now so I'm looking for an alternative. Anyone any ideas?

They negotiate rates with all the main couriers including Collect+, Royal Mail, Hermes and you choose from the quotes. We drop parcels off at a local shop and have been super impressed by Hermes- everything has been delivered within 48 hours recently at good rates- so we keep choosing them. If you have to have the item picked up Parcel2Go have that option- it only adds 50p or so to the price. I think P2G give you 10% off first order too. Have a look
As has been suggested, Parcel2go is an excellent parcel broker offering discounted rates through a variety of carriers. Even if you were able to use Royal Mail or Parcelforce it often makes sense to go via the Parcel2go website anyway. You then pay less, print your label out at home and drop of the parcel at your local post office for free. (The only thing to watch out for is that the default level of insurance when booking via Parcel2go can sometimes be less than that you get when booking directly with a particular carrier. You can, of course, opt to increase the level of insurance but you need to build that into your calculations when comparing prices).
For carriers other than Royal Mail and Parcelforce, packages booked with Parcel2go are usually taken to a local pick-up point for the relevant courier company but with some carriers offering a 'collect from home' service as well. At the present time, all carriers that Parcel2go offer through their website are providing a 'collect from home' service.

^^^ Your contract is with the broker, and not with the carrier, Barry. That's why the levels of insurance provided are those offered by the broker (which, at the default setting, might be less than those offered by individual carriers although, of course, you can choose a higher level to suit your own requirements).
