Marlboro' sub category
9 Answers
The Q's are now spread far and wide, up and down, all over what used to be AB. They are causing untold havoc and very, very short fuses, so please ED before we mutiny let them have their own category.
I cannot see some of us lasting until December with our sanity intact if things remain as they are. Yours very hopefully (and calmly) Cetti.

They have to go somewhere ..I do agree..but the Editor is loathe to give them a category as it would seem like the blatant advertising of cigarettes as she says in her post further down ...and I quote from said post.....
".We would not create a sub-category especially for this quiz however as we would not want to be seen as promoting cigarrettes....reality TV, now, that's OK."
Mind you ...with Marlboro...at the top of most of the headings for these questions they are doing their own advertising anyway.

they're pretty tiresome - particularly in their inability to use the search the site button... but this is a Q&A site, so I suppose it's the obvious place to come. And the fact that there are cash prizes shouldn't make any difference. I shall continue to answer them when I feel like it (which is not all that often, as the questions are hard) and ignore them when I don't. It's actually quite nice to see proper questions on AB rather than blather and insults.
I did see our ED's remarks after I posted shaneystar and although they are very PC don't particularly hold sway. Instead of a cigarette promotion the product could have been a famous chocolate manufacturer thereby promoting obesity, would that have been ok, I don't think so.
jno, I have always championed AB as a Q & A site plus a bit of fun on the sidelines, but this is beyond the pale. It is a quiz with a capital Q plus a huge amount of money at stake. Local quizzes, or the Macmillan Quiz I have no problem with but I believe there is a warning on the Marlboro about cheating or expecting others to do the work....
This is not an option on AB but I belonged to a vast Q&A site for three years that was bombarded with big money quiz questions about twice a year. The solution was that the poster had a warning, then had their account deleted immediately - no exceptions, no arguments.
