I have Economy 7 electricity and noticed a month ago that the clock was jammed. I kept daily records and I have had cheap rate electricity for only 19 days out of 30. It is three days since I last had cheap electricity. The meter was still racking the units up but at the wrong rate.
I reported it to my supplier who has taken note but no action due to the lockdown.
I have no problem with that, I am still getting electricity and I am sure my bill will be adjusted in due course.
My problem is that I have no idea how long the meter has been in this state. It was only by chance that I noticed the little arrow was pointing to 'low' when it should have been pointing to 'high'. I change my supplier every year and have only been with the current supplier for 3 months.
I believe I am owed a refund and compensation if I have been overcharged. My question is - how long back can I claim and can I claim from my previous suppliers? It will probably take many months before I can tell how much I should have been paying but it is going to be very difficult to work out when the problem started.
Any advice?
I had that once . It's no problem- it was sorted. If you look back you'll find the % split peak/off peak is pretty constant- mine was always 50/50 or 48/52- and they will know that so can work back
