White Wooden Toilet Seat

Some time back I had a bit of a difficulty in buying and getting it "fixed" properly because my toilet is sorta not bog standard but nephew managed to put it on for me and so far it has remained fixed and not moved.

However with my cleaning with a variety of solutions - I now notice like shadows of the wood coming through the white paint.

I don't want the trouble of all that bother of a new one and so I was hoping to paint it. Anybody advise what kind of paint I should get and is it a good idea. Thanks

Dulux diamond trade brilliant white eggshell. Be careful it’s dry tho as if it isn’t you’ll look like a target when you bend over.

Wooden seats are kinda rare now, but I had one a while ago in my old apartment, loved the vintage vibe. You may ask Gerald from https://sanitaryreview.com/ about it by the way.
It may be obvious but you should remove lacquer at first. Then you should apply paint (something like quick-drying Dulux or Wilko satin would be my choice) and lacquer again.

Wouldn't bother if its not to bad, stop using any kind of cleaner that's got bleach in it, just bog standard washing up liquid is great for cleaning and less abrasive, people seem to think you can only use it for washing up :0) Any sort of quick drying paint is water based and will only peel off in a short time, and will look a bigger mess.

Wooden seats are very unlikely to be real wood I'm afraid.. you will more than likely find that your seat is made of moisture resistant MDF. If the edges are showing through the paint, then a hard wearing paint like Zacs has described is probably best. MDF has a habit of bursting apart when it gets damp. So the sooner the better.
