In Bladerunner, is Deckard (Harrison Ford) a replicant?

In the film it is left ambiguous. Most people regard him as being a replicant. There's clues in the films; (it's been a while since I have seen this so details are sketchy) I think he gives a line at the end of the film suggesting he is, he is also emotionally cold suggesting he isn't human and his memories could be transplanted.

I thought it was left as a teaser. The sort of thing you suddenly realise thinking about the film afterwards: was HE a replicant, as well?

The Directors Cut has him dreaming about a unicorn and then he later finds an origami unicorn made by the character Gaff who has been following him.

Excellent film, must see it again :)

Edit: the dream sequence gives the impression that it was programmed and Gaff knew about it and hinted that he was a replicant.

Isn't there a scene where the 'police' are talking about the number of replicants who have landed and the number bandied about is six?

The police mention that one replicant was killed soon after arrival, but we only get to see four other 'villainous' replicants, so maybe Deckard is the re-programmed sixth????

I was always suspicious about the number of old photographs Deckard had lying around his home.

Wow, I never even considered that possibility. Has anyone read "Do andriods dream of electric sheep?" by Philip K Dick? For anyone who doesnt know, Bladerunner is based on that book but the film (dc version) is Ridley Scott's reworking of that story into a futuristic film noir (You dont get too many of them around!). Anyway, if memory serves, in that book there is a bladerunner that is himself a replicant and Deckard nails him. Deckard is not a replicant in the book but in light of the question and other answers, and with that snippet from the book in mind, I think RS probably meant for us to consider the fact that Deckard might be a replicant. Marvellous film and book too :-)

Thank you all. I personally think he could be. He keeps referring that he has new found emotions e.t.c which gives a similar impression. He keeps saying he feels new emotions for the people he kills e.t.c, so it is completely plausible. Thanks again. (oh, if anyone else reads this and wants to add more please do)
