Hi Gness
you have mentioned a fairy tree
these are mainly an Irish phenomena as far as I know

have you or anyone you know come to any harm after attacking the tree ?
is the tree a blackthorn or Hawthorne as that is what I imagine them all to be
do you ever speak to the faeries ?
have you ever asked them to return anything ?
have they returned it ?

We have a rowan tree at the bottom of our garden. I don't think we've ever pruned it, might have to ask it at some point tho.
We have borrowers at home, seem a nice bunch, will return items when they've finished when asked and if I have 2 then I'll let them keep it. (I think the last item was a thimble)
Don't care if anyone thinks I'm off my rocker, it works well for us :-)
The rowan tree is a sacred tree, alba.Revere it ,embrace it,hug it,love it.Never, ever damage it.
it's a lovely tree, doesn't bother us so I reckon we'll not bother it :-)

up in Scotland won't old spunkie be after you ?
I have got elder, rowan, and hawthorn in my garden, also holly. I do trim them when its needed and pick the elder flowers and berries and rowan berries but I talk to them and always leave some for the birds.
