For goodness sake we haven't seen him for 2 whole weeks. Today I thought he might crawl out of the woodwork to defend his mate Cummings, but no. What sort of leader is he?

It may be that at least partly he's trying to stick to behind-the-scenes work. I wouldn't be surprised if he is still feeling the effects of intensive care and so minimising public appearances. Plus he was at PMQs on Wednesday.
