Saturday Punt 23/05/2020

The end of May beckons and still no racing, although rumour has it that Ascot is planning a meeting at the beginning of June behind closed doors between the 16th and 20th. So it is another trip across the Channel. Just kept to the ITV7 races to save myself the trouble of looking at a largely incomprehensible list of unknown runners.( Not far off normal then, I hear you say)
**Denotes my usual punt and the 7 and 6 timers have been covered from the last 7 runners at Bordeaux.
Mr Satchmo** @10/3 12.15
Al Efreeta** @5/2 12.45
Mensen Ernst @15/8 1.17
Norathir** @11/2 1.52
Firenze Du Pecos** @11/2 2.32
French Plaisir @11/2 3.07
Pedraza Lescribaa @11/1 3.37
**£2.00 Win Acca. 30p Doubles and Trebles. Can cover the later runners if it all goes the usual shape.

2.32 BLB; Firenze Du Pecos @ 6/1
3.07 BLB; French Plaisir @ 11/2
5.27 Ang; Red Duma @ 10/1
6.00 Ang; Ferking Autrechene @ 13/2
No win singles, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £40, 4 winners = £4,151.
ITV acca; Aubevoye, Al Efreeta*, Mensen Ernst*, Sagaroi*, Firenze Du Pecos, French Plaisir & Noctis Maj.
£1 e.w. acca. * = £1 Trixie, £1 Treble for a poss near £130 return.
Watching Sky Sports Racing yesterday, Togo, and it was announced that all 36 races at Royal Ascot will be live. If it does indeed go ahead, that is. Fingers crossed.
While I have enjoyed the dalliance with the Americans and the French (even had a do at the Germans (Dresden) yesterday (couple of winners), I will welcome with open arms the intended Newcastle meeting. And i'm not usually a fan of the aw.

Glad that punt didn't bomb Ken. Another thing I notice happens over there. The colours of the nag can change from what is on the sites before the off. Are they selling the horses before they run or are they doing something daft like leasing them out for the day? My first runner is an example. It was showing as running in blue colours on the 625, ITV7, and Sporting Life sites earlier, but now has a fetching blue and yellow striped set of silks on S.L. and ITV7 but all yellow on 365. Drives me mad.

From what they were saying on SkySports Racing, Edmund, there is to be 36 races over a 5 day period "subject to Government approval of sporting events being held behind closed doors". As far as I know, and believe me I've done some searching, I cannot find anything which suggests that the Government have made their decision as yet. Obviously it's a case of wait and see.
Ditto Ken. Not trying to be rc with Edmund. It is nice when one of the people who obviously "look in" decide to post. I wondered if Edmund had "connections" that made him party to info that was nailed on, is all. Never mind... suppose we will know in due course(even if it isn't Ascot). Have a nice evening Ken. The bleedin wind is still full on over here and I will have "things to do" in the garden no doubt when it has done it's worst. Gonna be lovely next week by all accounts.
On 27 April 2020 my OH and I received e-mails from the Royal Enclosure Office saying:
"As you will be aware, in light of public health and safety concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we reached the unavoidable conclusion that Royal Ascot 2020 will not go ahead as an event for the general public."
I note that it says "as an event for the general public" which I suppose does not preclude a behind closed doors meeting.
Hope this clarifies my earlier post.
