Why do we say when we get a shiver up your back that "Somebody has just walked over my grave"?

There's a superstition that we are all linked psychically to the piece of ground in which we are to be buried, and if someone walks over that ground, you 'feel' their presence with a shiver. A variation is that a duck walks over the ground, but that is where the phrase comes from.
