Spelling Matters

I've just been watching some of the footage of the Oxford BLM protest in which they are calling for the removal of Cecil Rhodes statue.
I'm surprised no-one there pointed out to the organisers that the centrepiece- a huge banner spread on the floor - said "POST COLLONIAL ATTITUDES MATTER". I can only assume that's an American spelling. Another placard said "RODES MUST GO".
I'm not sure why so much time was devoted to an anti Israeli speaker talking about Palestine- the only connection seemed to be that the US police are trained by Israel.

You don't have to be literate to protest here, but it helps.
"I can only assume that's an American spelling"

It's not.
Wouldn't it need one of these anyway?

easier to get spelling wrong on big banners than on small pieces of paper, I've noticed. But even on a small screen...

removal of Cecil Rhodes statue
Question Author
Okay jno- the Cecil Rhodes statue. Is that okay?
Yes, roy, I couldn't see a hyphen between post and collonial but I was really querying the extra L (I know of the Oxford comma; I wondered if there is an Oxford L too).
I can understand the BLM issue even though I am not sure how so many can be so sure the George Floyd case was down to racism.
I seen the extra "L" too and wondered why they hadn't spotted the mistake.
sorry I put the above in the wrong thread

It's okay woofgang- I knew that was COMMING
Why removed a post that merely shows an inconsistency between a placard a man is carrying and what it says on his T-shirt?

How ridiculous.
So it now looks like a perfectly amiable thread is far from that. Well done, I hope you are proud.
You can't fight City Hall, Roy.
Or even reason with it, Douglas.
Is it all going "Pete Tong" again?
that's fine, ff. I only comment on others' use of English in threads that set out to comment on others' use of English.
