laurence, when i had my son 15 years ago, i had him in a sling on the bus, he was very young, only about 2-4 months if i remember correctly. I had to stand because not one person got up, lots of youngsters on there too! If that bus had stopped suddenly and i had fell on top of my baby, he wouldnt have stood a chance!

It should be made compulsory in schools that their should be lessons on MANNERS the youngsters today {not all} are extremely rude, bring back the days when words like please, thankyou were commonplace, people don't even hold doors open nowadays or even queue at bus stops.

Oh laurence, the times I've had the door swung into my pushchair is nobodies business! and yet they will stand there as i hold it open and filter thorough like I'm the doorman at the bloody Ritz!
Couldn't agree more about the manners thing though, although on the whole, my sons friends are all polite. They thank me for having them and always say please and thank you. I wouldn't have them in the house if they didn't though lol

Know what you mean about manners.....it really hit me about lack of manners in children last Christmas.
I took my baby to a childrens xmas party (Gawd knows why, she'd no idea who he was!) and the kids (all under 10) had to sit infront of Santa and go collect their presents from him when their names were called. Not one of the little ungrates said thank you to him!
