Its not about his criminality. Its about the manner in which he died and who was responsible for it - someone trusted to uphold the law. All this together with footage of his death (tantamount to a snuff movie) probably does need to be acknowledged somehow.

George Floyd should not have died the way he did. It seems clear that excessive and unnecessary force was used.
The hypocrisy I see is in the opportunistic way he has been used by BLM to promote a narrative that to a large degree isn’t based on facts.
They have martyred and canonised him for political ends and that alone should set alarm bells ringing.
