E-Mail Sticks In Outbox

I'm using 'Mail' (icon is a blue envelope with white paper inside) for my gmail account, but for some reason any e-mail I write gets stuck in the Outbox. I've deleted everything from the Outbox, closed it with Task Manager and rebooted the machine, but still the problem persists. I know I can access my e-mails through my browser, but it's a faff that I don't want.

Do I need to remove the app and put it back again? Will that mean I'll lose the e-mails that are stored there?

Any help would be gratefully received.

With any email client, the first thing to try when things go wrong is usually deleting the account (NOT the app!) and then creating it again. You won't lose any existing mail that way.

However the Windows 10 Mail app is an appalling bit of software anyway. Thunderbird is a zillion times better:

Thanks, Buenchico. As a matter of interest, what makes Thunderbird better?

Thanks, as always, Buenchico. Thunderbird is now installed and running pretty well. I got a message saying it had timed out when I was sending a message, but I think it was because I hadn't put a subject in - with a subject, it went without a problem.
