Marlboro Out Wit The West Contestants

I keep wondering if you guys have read the rules to the OTWT3 contest. If so.... you realize that the winner is the 1 team with the most correct answers. The top 20 teams with the most answers will be invited to the Marlboro Ranch.

In past years NOONE has gotten all the questions correct. As a finalist who made it to the Ranch last year I can tell you for sure that the only competition here is who gets the most correct answers. There is no competition at the Ranch.

Now if you want to give away answers to other teams thats your perogative and well within the rules of the competition, just realize that 1 answer that you give away may send someone else to the Ranch and leave you at home... or worse yet you may very well be talking your way out of $1,000,000 . As for me and my team (who all made it to the Ranch last year).... we'll be reading, but certainly not typing.

I think I have read this same thing three of four times already on this site. Please stop posting it. And I say please because I am fairly new to this site and don't want to step on toes. But it seems to me that saying something once is all you need to do, so again please stop posting this message. Besides if it weren't for people asking questions, you wouldn't get half your answers, so be obliged and take it as it is.

I posted the first time in response to someone elses question. Then rephrased the comment and posted to all contestants. If you were paying attention you would have noticed that 1) it was posted only twice and 2) it was different the second than the first. It is little details like that wich will lose you this contest.

As far as me getting my answers from other people thru this board.... Fibanacci and others have offered quite a bit of insight on a number of questions. However, thier answers have only led me in the correct direction so I could confirm the answer or affirmed what I already knew to be true. As far as being obliged, I am .... as I said I'll be reading, even if Im not typing.

I have to agree with khitan, as a first time player I find I can devote quite a bit of time to research a question before I even get close to the answer.

I do admit that I read all the responses and it has helped immensely, though I don't always agree with the final answer.

It is a competition with a hefty prize even as a top 20. It would be a shame if so many's hard work be undermined by simply hitting the AB.

I as well will be reading, but not likely posting, at least not in the Marlboro venue.

Well said, Khitan and Charlatan! I agree 100% I've worked too hard to get my answers. I'm not going to give them away and risk my chance at going back to the ranch. The ranch trip is a once in a lifetime event (though I'm trying for twice in a lifetime!) and I don't want to just give it away to someone else. Like the two of you, I'll be reading the posts of people who are generous enough to be forfeiting their trips by posting answers. However, I will not be posting answers myself.

For the vets, the photo questions, do we actually have to go to the location and get a personal pic, or will a printout from the web do?

printouts from the web are fine as long as the photo doesnt have a copyright printed on it. If you are looking at something that is a commercial website you could contact them and ask for publicity photos .... alot of places will send them out either thru snail-mail or send you to a public domain version of the page.

I have created a forum specifically for the Marlboro Outwit the West challenge. Please go there. All of the questions have been created as topics. Feel free to put in what your ideas are even if you don't know the answer. Me personally, I wouldn't just take someone's word for it. I'd take their idea and then research it to make certain it is correct.
