Why do all the holiday homes have covered in areas around their swimming pools? I presume its to do with alligators but their gardens are not closed in and often they go down to the water's edge. I wouldn't want a holiday home that was like a greenhouse!

The covered area around the pool is normally a mesh type of material that lets air in and out. Been a couple of times and it's always been like that.

Safety I think it is a law to have a pool fence. Also to keep the bugs out Florida is terrible for flying insects etc
There were some pretty big bugs outside the mesh surrounding the pool at the place we rented. Wouldn’t have wanted them inside.
The screens help to keep the pool cool in mid season and keep out all the leaf debris etc blown around on the stormy days.
I thought it was to stop the kids falling in.
Mosquitoes!! There's thousands of them.
I think they’re called Lanai . As others have said they’re to keep everything out. Inc insects. If you had seen the size of some Palmedow.
