can someone settle an argument (that may actually come to blows here). If you had a meeting at 1pm and someone changed it to 12:30pm would you say that's been brought forward or put back?

On a similar topic, when is next Monday? Is it the 6th or the 13th July?
I would say it has been rescheduled

Am I Right ?
I'm Not Wrong !
I nearly had a nuclear meltdowm when someone said when they broke for a rester - "we are continuing....."

continuing as in after the break, during which they certainly were not continuing as they were sitting around gossiping
Yup continue meant 'have a break'

brought forward is from your point of view now, when it is rearranged earlier

even tho from the events point of view it is put back

I cd never do this wednesday and next wednesday
and always had a sneaking suspicion that it wasnt me, there were a whole lot of people who had no idea when next wednesday was

Corby, I’d say next Monday I’d the 6th. I have some pedantic friends and relatives who might create a fuss about it being the 13th though.
And following that, surely a post-dated check is actually pre-dated.
why would it be the 13th, Cloverjo? Unless the calendar's been put back, of course.
To me, next Wednesday is the 13th because the 6th is this Wednesday.
I meant Monday, not Wednesday.
oh, I see. Today is today, a week today is this Wednesday and two weeks hence is next Wednesday? Not in my idiolect, I must confess.
I think you have to clarify with the people you’re meeting.
There’s always the “this Wednesday or next Wednesday” thing. Just check, guys :)
JNO, if I said I was going somewhere this Saturday, what date do you think it refers to?
