Our eldest daughter has suffered from nose bleeds from a very young age. However, they have got progressively worse over the years, becoming more severe & prolonged, especially since having iron transfusions at the hospital for anaemia. These nose bleeds come on suddenly & when she's driving, she has to pull over until they stop, which take an age!
Her consultant is now arranging for her to go into hospital to have the blood vessels cauterised.
Has anyone had this cauterisation procedure & did it completely stop your nose bleeds? Thank you.

It completely solved the problem. However, less helpfully, my boyfriend also had bad nosebleeds as a kid and, despite cauterisation, still gets them on occasion (particuarly in hot weather for some reason). I don't think it works for everybody but definitely worth a try - especially as your daughter sounds like she suffers particularly badly. Good luck!
Thank you so much woofie & Jb25 - you've both put my mind at rest & I shall pass the info on our daughter.
It has been particularly worrying, especially when she's driving the girls 6 miles to their school & nursery. She has to travel on a very busy road & it's awkward when the nose bleeds start & she's trying to drive with one hand until it's safe to pull over! Thank you both again.
I used to get nosebleeds fairly regularly around late May once we'd had some very hot weather. After getting caught out in similar fashion in 1993 while driving a National Express coach through Central London and having to get a relief coach to carry my passengers while my discomfort manifested itself all over my nice blue uniform shirt, I decided enough was enough and had my left nostril cauterised.
The acutal process was simple and straightforward enough even though I was mildly alarmed by the tube of cocaine paste that was utilised! Although I haven't had a gushing nosebleed since, my nose still 'tries' to bleed and I tend to find that the mucus in the nostril that was treated tends to dry and clog much more than the other one. Despite this, I'd certainly advocate it.
