In the UK you generally need TWO things to rise to the upper levels in politics: INTELLIGENCE and POLITICAL ACUMEN. That applies both to those on the left (e.g. Tony Blair and Tony Benn) and those on the right (e.g. Margaret Thatcher and Rishi Sunak), as well as to those in the centre (e.g. Paddy Ashdown and Charles Kennedy). It applies as well to devolved administrations (e.g. Nicola Sturgeon) and those at city level (e.g. Ken Livingstone and Sadiq Khan). Love them or loathe them, our senior politicians have generally got plenty of brain power and they know how to use it.
In the USA, it seems, you need only ONE thing to rise to the upper levels in politics: MONEY. Kanye West certainly isn't short of that, so prepare yourselves for some Presidential briefings in rap!
