We're about to book a 3 week holiday in Marawila on the west coast in November, as it appears to be the safest bet weather-wise. I know Sri Lanka has a complicated two-monsoon climate which I've attempted to get my head round! Has anyone been there at this time of year, and if so, can we expect decent weather? Thanks for any help.

I`ve been in Sri Lanka in February so can`t help you there but I presume it`s the same monsoon that goes through India. I think it goes up then down again which is why you get two and I don`t remember India being particularly rainy in November.
We were in Sri Lanka years ago in November.
We stayed in Hikkaduwa and Kandy.
Hikkaduwa is on the west coast down towards Galle and the weather was great. I seem to recall we deliberately avoided the east coast at that time due to weather.

Enjoy and make sure you visit Sigariya and Anuradhapura - they are unforgettable.
.
that sounds fine - west coast is driest November to April, east coast it's May to September. Obviously, nothing's guaranteed these days.

Thanks chaps. Looks like we might now go to Negombo instead. They have B& B bungalows that look really peaceful rather than the huge complex we first saw. I feel a bit happier about the climate now.
I've been to Sri Lanka twice and off back again on Feb 28th for fifteen days. We go to Beruwela, between Colombo and Hikkaduwa, it's lovely. We always go end of Feb, start of March and there is not too much rain and it doesn't get too hot.
