I've finished today's Azed - or rather I think I have. 14ac is "mother dead and buried". I can only think of d + under, but dunder does not mean mother. I'm assuming 2dn is rag up. Help please.

Dress for old style Yankees- it suggests civil war veterans (5, 2 words). R A and P are definitely correct.
mother also means the lees or dregs sediment in alcohol therefore mother does equal dunder!
Rag up looks good - gar (grand army of the republic) reversed
mother
in British English

Thanks all. So a dual look up in Chambers - dunder for lees, and then mother (2), dregs. And now I see that faithful Bradford has all these definitions.
