Watched a documentary about the life story about Bette Davis through the week and I recall enjoying some of her movies years ago but because there weren't subtitles I sorta didn't follow understanding what some of them were about. Like "Whatever happened to Baby Jane" per se.
I don't have a Smart TV but was wondering if I bought one of those Firesticks that you plug into the back of TV - could I watch these black and movies again.
You don’t “need” Kodi.
It’s misleading and unhelpful to suggest that. It’s a non standard media player that gets round licensing etc. And it’s not officially installable on a standard firestick.
It all depends what you want to do.
If just to watch old Bette Davis movies then DVDs off Amazon might even be cheaper :-)
JJ, why don't you lke dvd players? they are cheap, easy to use. you would be able to buy thousands of cheap dvds off ebay, Aamazon and in charity shops. Easier than setting up a firestick which may not have the content you want
Barry - can't stand the way one doesn't have control where you want to be ie pause, play or whatever. With the dear old videos you know exactly where to pause as to the very exact minute ie you had control
You've confused me. You can pause, fast forward and 'rewind' dvds. Most dvd player can remember where you left off if you eject the dvd part way through, mine remembers the last 6 discs that I played.
Before you splash out on anything, check that your TV can actually take a plug-in device.
Does your TV have HDMI? Thats normally how the plug in devices work.
If so, then your options are
NowTV
Amazon
Apple
etc.
I got a free years subscription to Apple TV+ - still have to work out what I get for the "+" option!!!! However it lets me add other apps, so perhaps have a search as to what you can get with each device.
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is on Amazon Prime but it costs £3.49 to rent or £7.99 to buy on top of the monthly Prime subscription. The cheapest on Now TV is £3.49 through Google Play.
You can buy the two DVD Special Edition from Amazon for £5.89.
