I’ve got P?CT for 25 across but neither of the two possibilities seems to have an amusing definition in Chambers.
Grateful for a steer please.

Paolo, the definitions aren't in current Chambers - they were there at one time. From Brewer's, 25 A is 'one of a dwarfish race of underground dwellers, to whom (with the Romans, the Druids and Cromwell)ancient monuments are generally attributed'. That should help you choose which of your possibilities works!
