This to avoid a second nationwide lockdown. Also possible travel beyond the M25 forbidden.

My daughter is due to visit in 2 weeks...and all I feel is despair and fear that I'll never see her.

Asking is more like it. I'd assume anyone with health issues would be cautious anyway.
I can't read the full article, but I see this was mentioned/discussed in a "war gaming exercise" last week. So, basically, throwing ideas around.
jourdain, I'm afraid the press are to blame for much of the antipathy of the public to shielding etc.
I suggest you stop blaming the media, who are reporting stories given them by the government. The government are confused and divided, so the stories will be too - but they're the ones in power, so they carry the can.
Jno. The media provide the headlines, not the Government. It's also the media that twists and adapts the information given to create the reaction they require. So no I don't blame the government.
jno, so you believe everything that you read in the press.Do you not see that many stories are embellished to make them appear more newsworthy?
I reckon the majority of lorry drivers are over 50, so the supermarkets would struggle.
if you're got evidence that they've misreported something, let us know, dannyk and Apc. Plenty of people point to bad reporting when an AB post contains a link; you can do so too.

What have they said that isn't true?

The papers published that over 50s may be told[i, the news on the radio reported that they may be [i]asked].
I could be doing with 80% of my wages for having a lie in, feels like it's my turn now anyway.
Or has that all come to an end?
Too many 'ifs' yet Doug, too soon to get those box sets out.
Douglas, the furlough scheme is due to and on October 31st.

Told or asked it will fall upon deaf ears here.
and you think one of those must be untrue, dannyk?

Do you remember how one day Gove said masks wouldn't be compulsory and next day Boris said they would? Both reports were correct.
Danny, the furlough scheme may well have to be reintroduced if (there's that word again) swathes of over 50s are told not to go to work.

Far easier to wait and see what comes of this speculation if anything at all.
Mamya, that's true, but if my assessment is right, the ministers concerned are actually waiting to hear your opinion on the possible options, that's why they're busy leaking them to the media (Saturday night is always a good time for this, so they get them in the Sunday papers). Sufficient cries of outrage will make them change their minds. So you can make your voice heard if you wish.
I see, a sort of undercover Vox Pop.
