Hi are you using the correct Vax cleaner. Not sure if 1001 is the right stuff. Vax does one called AAA carpet cleaner and that doesn't foam in the dirty water container.

yes its been voted the best carpet cleaner by some consumer guide shedman its for vax and rug doctor machines
And it cleans a big big carpet for less than half a crown.
There must be foam suppressors out there. But I'm suprised you'd need them if it is recommended. Sure you have the right version of 1001 ? Says for Vax on the bottle, not bowl & scrubbing brush only ? Not that I'd know.
Have you ever cleaned the carpet by hand? If so hand washing stuff will do what you are saying. OH got me to hand wash some a while ago and then when we used the Vax stuff later on that foamed up. Took a couple of goes at it to remove all of the hand stuff.

old geezer thanks but i do know what i'm buying and its 1001 3 in1 carpet shampoo for vax and rug doctor machines as i stated earlier
shed man its the complete flat were in im cleaning a large area indeed
The 3 in 1 stuff usually works fine. I know Vax used to make a defoamer but don't think you can get it these days. Were the carpets down before you moved in. If so maybe bits of them had been hand cleaned in the past and this does cause the foam you are talking about. The only thing I can think of is to put something in the dirty water tank that will kill the foam as it goes in Vinegar may do it.

shed man think your right will try vinegar some say salt too the carpets are what we put in been here 20 years (but off course had new carpets since) lol

thanks for your help
For some years I have owned a commercial carpet cleaner. I just use any de-foamer.They all seem to do what they are supposed to.
There's nothing more annoying than your machine cutting out because of the foam.
