I see figures for new infections bandied about - 50 in 100,000 for example - which isn’t a high percentage - so I wonder what the government considers a ‘Spike’ warranting the imposition of further lockdowns?

getting back to the SUBJECT....the R calculation can be used locally.

a friend in ITU said earlier in the pandemic that on average, onset of symptoms to hospital bed took ten days, and from there to body bag a further 14. getting an early handle on infections gets you 3 weeks+ ahead.
