Yes, rough collie is like Lassie. An incredibly patient dog who would tolerate our budgie picking the hair between her toes. On one occasion the budgie jumped into her mouth when she yawned, fortunately with no unfortunate consequences.

However I think 'Sherlock' would still be a great nickname for him, as I'm sure that he'll always be sticking his nose into things ;-)
