What Will The Next U-Turn Be?
How many more things can this government get wrong? Will they ever admit their mistakes? I doubt it.

If the argument is that every Government will react the same way to the unforeseen then, in the first place, that's clearly wrong: a Government's reaction is, after all, going to be shaped by its politics.
Really, that's my point: defending the Government from their reaction on the sole grounds that any other government would have been the same either makes the Government irrelevant or ignores the differences, and is so flawed as a defence. Unprecedented or not, there were different ways to react to Covid-19, and a Government can therefore, and should therefore, be held accountable for their decisions.

Jim, //presumably the choice we make in an election is also about choosing the Government we think will react best to unforeseen circumstances.//
I don’t think unforeseen circumstances are ever a consideration. People vote for those they think will run the country in the way they prefer it to be run.

Depends on how long the economic recovery takes, I suppose.
// The problem in the last election who in their right mind would think [Corbyn] would have done better? So by jim's thinking it is no wonder BoJo won hands down.//
Who can say whether Labour would have been any better? My point, though, would still stand -- they would, at least to an extent, have responded differently. If so, is that not enough to argue that we can still be critical of this Government for its actions?
Besides, I'd like to think that we can hold our leaders to higher standards than merely outperforming Corbyn.

// Unless covid is the consideration, this answer is entirely irrational //

In my opinion, ( and I know you a slathering for my opinion),
''A bit of quiet for the artiste, the Theland is going to perform for us,'
Now then, I think the problems facing Boris are bigger than any politician could cope with successfully, so he has to do his best, which means there will inevitably be failures and U turns.
But, the question has to be asked, ''Who could do it better, in p!ace of Boris, at this time?''
Please submit some names.
I, as a lifelong Labour voter, was glad that Boris won and is now PM, as I cringe at the thought of what would have happened if COB was in number 10.
Open borders? Handcuff the police under the leadership of DA?
Dawn Butler? Lammy?
(Oh I shudder at the thought).
Thank you thank you thank you ( he !eaves to deafening applause )
