Lucky I didn’t go ahead with buying a Bluetooth speaker to augment our TV listening, as I was intending to have our current wired speakers going alongside a new Bluetooth speaker...

And had forgotten about ‘latency’.

Do all modern Bluetooth devices still suffer from the microseconds delay?

My guess is that most things, especially airwave connections, get delay. But there again, doesn't most digital stuff collect a buffer full before starting ? That'd put things out of sync.

Well, I've already got a couple of good quality Bluetooth speakers, so I'll set up a test, and report back!

Normally, each one is the sole sound output for a device, so lag doesn't enter into it. I'll 'pair' up one with wired speakers, and see if I can hear a difference.

And the answer is....

Impossible to hear! Wired speakers fine, Bluetooth fine, just about 1/2 a second difference.

Ah well, back to the drawing board.
