Hi
Can anyone help me find a marriage between Edmund John Heimers & Sarah Ann Hill.
It would be between 1891 & 1894. I know that Edmund was living at home, and single, on the 1891 census, and by 1894, on the 1901 census they had a son. The marriage took place in Southwark London. Many thanks for trying to help.

I've had a good look about on Ancestry, and I'm afraid that I can't come up with anything..........:o(

Following the names 'Hill' (less variation probable), I can find no records for a match to a 'Heimers'. I can find one or two records for 'Heimers' but completely wrong for your search.

Sorry.

Perhaps someone else will have more luck.
Nope sorry I can't find a marriage either.......and I can't find them on the 1911 census or any of his 3 sons, even though there is a WW1 record for his son Edmund.
Another family tree suggests his wife was Sarah Ann Driscoll, not Sarah Ann Hill, but I can't find a marriage in that name either.
If you know for certain that they were married, and at Southwark, then a trip to (or at least an application to) the appropriate records office should prove fruitful - or else prove that they were not married ........at Southwark.
here's what I've found on freebdm site:

edmund john heimers born dec 1863 st saviour (southwark) record details: Q4 1D 134

there was an Edmund John heimers who died in Jun 1893 in st saviour too....age 2...possibly a son ? Q2 1D 14
another E J Heimers was born in st saviour in sep 1899 Q3 1D 20
most of the marriage registers for most of the parishes in Southwark, including St Olaves, have been transcribed and are now on ancestry.co.uk. the only marriage i can find on there, though not looked at the GRo index yet, for Edmund John heimers is the one for his son on 8th feb 1920 to Elizabeth barber at St mary Magdelane Southwark.
His son john samuel married Anna Eliza Mary Silk on 4 Nov 1919 same church.
his son Richard Emmanuel Heimers married Caroline emily keegan 31 may 1914
His daughter elizabeth married William Frederick Holl (sic) 27 match 1921
His son John Samuel also married Kate Minnie (or mirian) Trezona, 24 dec 1911

Chances are that Edmund John's father was Augustus heimers
the 1899 edmund died in bethnal green in 1964. Might help with tracking backwards

if the edward(?) john born 18 dec 1890 is their son, then you can view the christening record on ancestry...shows parents names as edmund john and sarah ann heimers
also, on the sons marriage document (in 1920) it shows that his father Ed J heimer as deceased.
there's also a marriage in 1919 for John Samuel heimers, and the father Ed J shows as deceased (he was a Baker)

might help
edmund joihn jnr bap 8 feb 1891
Dora (bap Doris) born 28 seopt 1903 bap 22 oct 1903
can't find any of the other children's baptisms
sarah possibly remarried in 1905 btw. Augustus was his brother, john was his father and he was German, they had been living in Limehouse which is where my children's father's ancestors lived at the same time. They probably were from Saxe Coburg but not actually found that yet. Still no marriage for sarah and edmund turning up but i am wondering if they had used the German Church as there was a huge one in that area.
Edmund and Augustus had a sister Sarah born 1879, it may be her who married in 1905, for some reason the transcript was not able to be completed.
Richard married 31st May 1914, and Edmond was still alive then.

the only thing I can find to help is a birth for george h heimers in southwark, dec 1911.
the mothers maiden name is given as Hill.
you could get the birth cert and check from that....record details are:
southwark Q4 Vol 1D Page 29
The Doris born in 1903 was illegitimate according to the entry in the Church registers and so she was the daughter of Edmund's youngest sister sarah heimers who married in 1905.
Edmond John born 18 dec 1890 at Bridge Place son of Edmund and sarah ann heimers.
Dora birn 28th september 1903 and baprised 22nd oct was the daughter of Edmund John and sarah ann

No this doesn't make sense, the birth register is from the Newington Workhouse and gives Doris as being born in there on 28th september and baptised 22nd october and illegitimate, yet the Parish register for St Syephen Walworth Common, gives the same info except it is edmund and sarah heimers that are the parents. This may mean that sarah and edmund never married .
Oh this is interesting:
5th march 1888 at the general quarter sessions for Surrey held at St mary Newington (that's where sarah heimers was in the workhouse)
John heimers was convicted of Larceny after a previous conviction foir felony the sentence was 12 calendar months hard labour

What can I say. What a great team out there. Thanks to everyone.
With so much interest I will add a bit more that I know.
August 26 years, & Elizabeth, Edmunds parents, were married in St George Catholic Church in July 1861.August's father was Peter, and was a gardener.
Edmund may have married in a Catholic Church?
My G Father Richard was born 1895 St Savours. Weston St Southwark.
1901 census they were living in Bangor St Southwark, in the parish of St George the Martyr.
If anyone has the energy to carry on, I would be very pleased as I have been looking for that marriage for at least 10 years, and I would have felt a mug if someone just sent details by return.
Thank you all again.

P.S.
The family say that August was proud to have come from Hannover.
It was not illegal to marry in a Catholic Church after the start of civil registration but a superintendant registrar had to be present, and still does, for the marriage to be lawful in terms of legitimacy and inheritance. The record in the workhouse that I found does say the child was illegitimate but that may well be because they married in the german church, i can't remember where it was but if you have a look on this site:
http://www.agfhs.org.uk/
they will list it. I thought i had found edmund john and his brother augustus living with their father John.
Do you have a photograph of Richard Emanuel Heimers or his wife Caroline, i am researching Richards service during WW1 within the machine gun corps
