How To Inform Hmrc That Non-Trading Ltd Company

My husband has set up as a soletrader and we were advised that we must register with Companies House.
We have purchased our company yet the company we purchased this through has set this up as a Ltd company incase we wish to go Ltd in the future. As we are not trading as a Ltd company I have been told to inform HMRC that we are non-trading and that must complete DCA.
Is there anything else I need to do. I don’t want to have missed anything and be stuck with a huge fine. This is all completely new to us and a lot more complicated than we initially expected.

Other than informing HMRC asap that non trading and completing the DCA next year is there anything else that I need to do? When I looked at the DCA it said I must submit a confirmation statement and a copy of PSC. I don't even know how to get a PSC.
I wish I hadn't been misadvised, I'm feeling like we have bitten off more than we can chew at the moment. What started as an exciting adventure is slowly turning into a nightmare of paperwork and potential fines.
