are carrotts ok???

This may seem a strange question...... I own a white hamster and i often give her lettuce, cucumber, or cheese as a little treat, but i'm running out of ideas on what else would be a good healthy snack for her, does anybody know what sort of things i could feed her, that won't end up with her choking!!! Also.....does anyone know whether giving a white hamster carrotts makes their fur go a little bit orange??? (has anyone tried giving their white hamster carrotts??!!) Don't know about carrots, but we used to give ours a hard dog biscuit to gnaw on once in a while. Spillers Shapes are fine.

They love digestive biscuits. I used to give mine one once a week and he lived for 4 and a half years! He also loved milk and cheese. I used to give him milk in an upturned egg cup (it has to have a stem and a dent in the bottom to hold a small amount of milk. ) They are omnivores, so will eat meat as well, but you have to be careful as they store food in their pouches and if the meat goes off it can cause serious problems. I always gave mine a very small piece of cooked bacon once in a while. All my other hamsters (I have had about twenty in the past) were fed in the same way and lived to quite a good age, about 3 and a half years or so, so it couldn't have done them much harm!

we give mrs Doyle (our hamster) monkey nuts, carrots, grapes, apple, and also numours treats from the pet shop! we also put a plain piece of paper in once in while which she goes mad shredding

we give are hamster everything if we r out in the kitchen we just put a bit of wot we r eating threw the bars and she nibbles away at it (dont feed them bread its bad 4 them ) thats 1 thing we dont give her but we always have let are hamsters have anything :) we have alot of fruit and thngs so she eats them . i wudnt worry about feeding it different things it wont harm ur hamster. id love 2 see if the hamster did turn orange after eating carrots thou to bad ares is brown and white :( lol. and hamsters wont choke n anything they will either stick it in the pouch and look like they trying to swollow marbles or eat it in small amount and store the rest
