I'd go for sank (it submerged, it sank) but I can see case for sunk (it was submerged, it was sunk)
Sunken would be better if 6
Could be either depending whether used as an adjective sunk) or a verb (sank)

A submerged submarine(adjective)
The submarine sank (verb)
I think the adjective would be sunken, but I'm not certain.
