presumably to do with the heat on them but I have to go out later - will it hurt if I try to slam them shut?

Probably nothing to do with the weather.
uPVC doors are easily adjusted. There are many tweaks that can sort them out, with nothing more than a set of allen keys (or similar.)
Do get them adjusted properly or the hinges may get strained.
Look for someone local who installs uPVC doors.

14.24 Like builder says, if you care to, and have a spirit level, a longer spirit level would be good, place level, on back or front edge of door ( each door) that may give you a good indication of which way to adjust but it can be tricky if you've not done it before, its very fine tuning left /right, also outwards and inwards.
