Re the breast-feeding bit - I'm 71 and breastfed my children in public 41 years ago - it seemed perfectly normal then, never mind now.
When I was breastfeeding, I’ve sat in the loo because I felt uncomfortable doing it in a cafe even though no one could have seen a hint of breast. I could hear people complaining in the loo because I was taking too long and there was a queue.
Just put the baby under your t shirt. No one needs to get upset and baby gets fed. Simple, right?
It continues. The latest wheeze(pun intended) is for a Labour run Council(it had to be didn't it) to ban staff from smoking at their desks............. whilst working from home.
Exactly what I used to do, clover. None of my 4 would take a bottle, so ended up getting fed anywhere and everywhere necessary. I genuinely don't think anyone even noticed, as I never made a show of it.
Exactly the same for me pixie. She wouldn't take the bottle...and I had trouble expressing. That left just one...discreet...choice.
I'd never sit in the loo with her though...that just seemed too wrong.
Bednobs...just saw your answer @ 22:08. At 73 now, I was a product of the attitudes of the 60s and 70s, so quite liberal in thinking ...though I wasn't a mum until the 80s.
Me neither. Anyone being offended by my version, would have to be possibly lying on the floor under my feet... and even then...
The alternative is having a hungry, screaming baby next to you. So it surprises me that people object.
//Mally, as pariahs even minor irritations should never be expressed,we know this - hope you found somewhere else to have your coffee and watch the World go by without upsetting anyone.:-)

We were once at a small animal park and near the car park was a cafe - the family and I had a light lunch and I wandered off to find somewhere for a quiet smoke.

Round the back near the bins was a rickety table with an overflowing ash tray, knowing my place I decided that was my spot.

No sooner had I lit up when a family appeared, the male told me in rather ripe language to sling my hook and with that he flung the full ash tray to the floor causing clouds of ash to rise as his children looked on.

I walked a good way away and finished my smoke under a tree,he never stopped glaring.//

Wish I'd been there, mamya.
