It's certainly true where I live, the surgery door is locked and you're only admitted if an appointment has been made for you by a doctor. Repeat prescriptions are ordered by phone and collected at the chemist. I received a letter yesterday saying that they have hired a nearby sports stadium for two successive Saturdays so they can inoculate en masse all those getting the flu jab, this will stop anybody having to go to the surgery. I think Fort knox would be easier to enter.

It’s just gone noon
Half past monsoon
On the banks of the river Thames
Here come’s a boat
Very much afloat
Passengers reduced to tens
Only just once more
To this deserted shore
Last boat along the River Thames
Doesn't seem to care
No more wind in his hair
As he reaches his last half mile
The oar snaps in his hand
Before he reaches dry land
But the sound doesn't deafen his smile
Just pokes at wet sand
With an oar in his hand
Floats off down the river Thames
Floats off down the river Thames

I know! Has the world gone mad?
Cases are up. Yes, ok! Is anyone suffering terribly? Yes, some are, but we can look after them. Long term physical effects can be bad, but possibly not as bad as countless jobs lost and livelihoods ruined.
I would never want the job of PM, but sometimes I gather my granny’s spirit and want to get on a soapbox. I know she’d have plenty to say about this,.
