I ordered just a couple more things than normal - couple of extra cartons of milk, and couple loaves of bread for freezer.( loo rolls were ‘unavailable’ for 2nd week running). He delivered 7 crates to the door, which I thought was a lot.
The guy dropped it all off and said ‘thank god for a small delivery!”. What do you mean I said. He said that people have gone so insane bulk buying that he has been delivering FIFTY - SIXTY crates to individual households!! Hundreds of loo rolls, hand washes etc......
Mad!!

Canary...I was expecting it and I got everything I ordered.

I think Tesco have predicted this, stores might empty but the warehouses won't.
It’s all the stuff for exactly one week (and I mean exactly) minus three meals (doesn’t usually happy) and shampoo and toilet rolls (cheaper round the shop). Includes different breakfasts, packed lunches (different sandwiches, cereal bars, apples, crisps, fromage frais, juice) 4 evening meals (and different ones for me), evening snacks and alcohol. All I buy round the shop is bread/rolls, milk and toilet rolls. I do buy a lot of stuff that lasts for a while - multi packs of stuff and the biggest packets of some stuff.
I buy a lot of bits of things Ummmm so I suppose it appears a lot, of course some weeks all the household stuff seems to run out at once.

Mine includes everything - shower gel, bin liners etc but I also have started batch cooking so quite a few things were in bulk.
that can't be possible surely, there wouldn't be enough room in the van for one thing......
I over buy (not panic buy)

I do meal plan but I can't predict who will be here so they'll be extra meals as well.
Don't these people realise that they are the ones responsible for shortages?
I batch cook every week but I rarely have to order more than usual.
Batch cooking is good depending what it is. Somethings don't freeze well.

Also, I don't know today what I'm going to want to eat on Saturday.
AH; "If you think about it, it's the one essential that you really can;t do without. " - have a day off! there's the Guardian for a start!
cleverjo: "Oh this is mad. Just recently I couldn’t buy more than two bottles of the same wine. I need loads of wine." - join naked wines love, they deliver and it's good kit too! I save an apple core a month and order when I like!
Smowball, things should get a little easier now for your delivery driver. Tesco have introduced (re-introduced?) their three items policy for certain lines. Toilet rolls are on the list, so there well be no more customers getting 'hundreds' of loo rolls.
Since the first lockdown I have done my shopping in one go rather than in dribs and drabs, to avoid having to go into Sainsburys too often. Now I am getting low on most stuff, so if I go in then it will look like I am stocking up! Did think about going this afternoon as its precipitating down here and I thought maybe there would not be so many in there.
