I'm not sure which of the above this makes me, but while relaxing over my afternoon cuppa I came across this 12-minute video on the development of the humble drinks can. I found it interesting, and had forgotten the bad old days when you had to have a special opener to get at the contents.

Your choice, watch or ignore at your leisure (it is a bit patronising/ponderous at times).

In answer to your question - Nerdy! But an interesting little nerdy vid. I dont think I was aware of drinks in a can before the ring pull. It was glass bottles with a bottle opener for us I think.
Remember the disaster when you were away from home and bought a bottle of wine. You didn’t have a corkscrew because you’re not that well-prepared, so you had to push the cork in with a wooden spoon handle or a toothbrush. Remember? Can’t just be me, surely? ;)
Ah yes, nerdy, I was a packaging engineer bottles and cans for a few years.
Fascinating technology.
Done that more than once cloverjo :-)
You didn't know the shoe trick, CloverJo?
