New Glasses
13 Answers
I was recently prescribed glasses for driving and TV, but I just cannot get on with them, things are not clearer more blurry if anything, so I won't wear them for driving, I went back to them, and they tried to help by altering the arms, the nose piece, and did something with the lenses, and told me to wear them around the house or as a passenger in a car to get use to them, which I have been doing, but they still don't feel any better, if I go back again and explain this to them, what can they actually do? does it mean another eye test?

Their lenses are appalling, the last prescription I had I could not see the faces up the road and they told me to try them for a week and see how I got on, ridiculous. They then decided that they would give me another pair of glasses with the same prescription as I had. Definitely not the same. I gave up and went elsewhere where I was told that the prescription was completely wrong and it was my left eye that had changed not my right. I will never go back to them might be cheaper but I would rather be able to see !!
fruitsalad, if you need glasses for driving (to pass the driving sight test) then its not legal to drive without them. I'd be very dubious about any optician that did not retest your sight and check your prescription against the lenses as a starting point. I had a similar problem with glasses I got for computer use for work and when I went back they did as I said, checked the lenses and retested my eyes. My problem was that the glasses had been made with the same prescrition in both lenses instead of the slightly stronger left lens which I need.
Some years ago, I was prescribed bifocals, by Specsavers, for reading, driving, tv, & computer work. However, after I'd collected them, I couldn't see a thing on my pc screen so took them back! They then decided I should have been prescribed varifocals! I got on well with those, but after recently having both cataracts done, I now only need cheapy ones from Poundland for reading & computer work.
