Any definition that is also kind of a slap-down is unhelpful, really. Nor would I wish to see "woke" defined in a way that makes it "desirable". Definitions should be neutral. The debate afterwards is fine.

People who are "woke" are hyper-aware of, and vocal about, perceived or actual injustices in society, particularly racial injustices. The term has its ultimate origins in the 1860 Presidential campaign ("wide awake" about Slavery), through the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, to the modern protests over racial injustices in the US.
