Home Mesh Wifi.

Can anyone clarify and recommend a good system? I have BT modem and Broadband and a lot of blind spots in my house. I’ve come across these home mesh things but have no idea how good or which ones to go for? H-e-l-p! Many thanks Bramley.

If your whole is one the same electric circuit (mine isn't) then home plugs might suit you. You plug one it so a socket and your router then the other(s) anywhere you like. They used to be ethernet only so you had to plug your device in to the home plug with a cable but now you can get wifi versions. They beam a wifi signal so any wifi enabled device can connect. This is a simple and easy solution. They are also called 'powerlines'. Have a read of this.

I use this cheap and easy option in my home Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation
You can link as many as you need throughout the house. I needed it because my router is too far away from my Ring doorbell and it solved the problem easily.

Thank you JimF. My needs really are very simple, but I don’t know what I want! I have Sky Q box downstairs. The BT line comes into an upstairs bedroom. I do not do any gaming. We also have Netflix. We have a brick built garage about 1 metre from our brick built house with a room above the garage which I can escape to, so I would access to WiFi there. I’ve looked up what’s on offer from your network systems, and am slightly baffled. I’d like someone to tell me what to do! Would the TP Link system be the best way to go? Bramley.

Is it primarily the room over the garage where you want the wifi? What do intend doing in that room? Is the garage on the same electricity circuit as the house?

Barry, I don’t think house and garage are on the same circuit. We bought the house just after it had been rewired and the garage has a bank of circuit breakers similar to the house! But we only pay for one account but I don’t think there is direct continuity. That is why one of these ‘mesh’ WiFi things is attractive. At the moment I use these plugs to the tv but they don’t work in the garage. I wanted to have broadband in the garage for work use. Does that help? Bramley.
