Why Bother Posting On A Sub-Section Of Ab That Is Contentious?

Believers or non believers, why do we do it?
Asked myself this question today. The preachers will preach, the unbelievers will still be unbelievers, nothing new under the sun and all that.
So...what do you gain by posting in R&S?

When new information, or a new understanding of existing information comes to light, my appreciation of the scriptures changes, especially in relation to science, contemporary events, and the thinking and understanding of influential theologists and Christian apologists.
I hope by this process to gain a greater understanding of God, and to be more willing to submit myself to His will.
