It's a very attractive offer from Sky but I'd like to hear about any problems.

Sky tell me that if I change to them I can still keep my .btinternet.com email address. Is that right?

We’ve got Sky and I kept my email address, we’ve also had BT and I kept my email address (I live in the Middle Ages and there are only so many high speed slots for each provider, so you go with whoever has a slot).
Have you thought about the cutting the ties and using a web based email such as GMail? Then you would be free to use whichever ISP you wanted, change as often as you like.
...and there are other ISPs - why stick with those two?

BT is the best, they own all the supply cables.
No problems with Sky, been with them for over 30 years

Easy enough, works with email clients like Thunderbird as well.

GMail is really easy and I use it to manage my other email accounts.

Of course the initial headache with changing email address (no matter which service you use) is telling everyone who needs to know that you have changed email address. This is why it is so important to do it at least a few weeks before you switch ISP - it gives you time to collect your old emails.

Why not give it a go and see how you get on? There is no reason why you can't have more than one email address, in fact there are lots of advantages. It's free so there is no reason not to
We have Sky TV but BT Broadband . We were going to get Sky Broadband too, but the technician who came to instal Sky TV said we should stick with BT as they own the cables and if anything goes wrong you will get fixed quicker. This had proved to be correct, and we can now get super speed -well as fast as you can get here in the sticks -but our neighbour who is with Sky BB hasn't be able to yet.
Yes, BT still own the cables ( and long may it continue she says as a BT pensioner) :0)))))

I think I'll have to stick with BT unless I can get someone here to hold my hand ... .
TKS for all suggestions.
Coppit at least have a go with GMail, you don't need anyone to hold your hand
Coppit: Do a google for GMail

Click the link.
Click register.
Input name and choose an address ie Coppit222 -it will tell you if that name is already taken.
Choose a password
It may want your phone number, but you don't have to give it.

Voila you now have a Gmail account which you can access by putting a link in your favourites.
